Dear 4th Grade Families,
Welcome to Fourth Grade Language Arts! I am Mrs. Strohecker and I will be your child’s language arts and homeroom teacher this year. I would like to take a moment to let you know a little about myself. I live in Columbiana with my husband Eric, and our children, Eli and Mia. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University, and my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. I am also a Literacy Collaborative trained Literacy Coach. I begin teaching 4th grade in Canfield, and then Eric and I moved to Charlotte North Carolina. I taught in Charlotte for several years before returning home.
4th grade is an exciting year of growth and independence! 4th graders begin the day in their homeroom and then rotate to different teachers for their classes.
My homeroom’s daily schedule is as follows:
8:40 Tardy Bell. Attendance, announcements, etc.
8:50-10:10 Language Arts
10:10-10:50 Special
Monday: P.E.
Tuesday: Technology
Wednesday: Library
Thursday: Art
Friday: Music
10:50-12:10 Math with Mrs. Gorby
12:10-12:50 Homeroom for Science
12:50-1:10 Recess
1:10-1:30 Lunch
1:30-2:50 Social Studies with Mrs. McClish
2:50 Back to homeroom to get ready for dismissal.
3:05 Dismissal
Discipline:
Mrs. Gorby, Mrs. McClish and I work together as a team to be very consistent with our behavior and academic expectations. I keep a small notebook at my desk and students who are disruptive and/or disrespectful will be instructed to write their name on the pad. This is a warning. If the student continues to act out, they will place a check by their name and lose 5 minutes of recess. If there is another check, they will lose all recess and need to take a note home which will need to be signed and returned. If a 4th infraction takes place, the student will visit message and/or call home. Each day begins anew with a fresh start for everyone.
Snacks:
4th grade’s lunch is at 1:10pm. I strongly suggest sending in a healthy snack (raisins, crackers, cheese, yogurt, carrots, fruit, pretzels, etc. ) and a water bottle with your child. Candy is not a healthy snack and will have to be eaten at lunch.
