Google Docs

I have been using Google Docs for about two years now. I highly recommend this great service to anyone! Two main reasons: 1. It is free and easy to use. 2. I love that it works seamlessly with Blogger. 3. Did I mention online storage for free!

I am thinking about giving a presentation at the Mahoning County Tech Conference this fall on Google Docs...maybe that would increase my chances of becoming a Google Certified Teacher!

Art Projects for Kids

Art Projects for Kids

Kathy Barbro has this amazing site filled with kid-tested art projects. I especially love this idea: mini-books out of recycled cereal boxes!

The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center

Over vacation my family visited The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center . It is really wonderful place on Topsail Island that takes care of stranded and injured sea turtles. They also help protect sea turtle nesting sites.
The biggest surprise during our visit was runnning into Weslie Detwiler volunteering at the center! Weslie is a Senior at the high school and she is participating in the center's intership problem. I am DEFINATELY going to ask Weslie to come and speak to our class about her experiences. How cool will that be?!

Teacher Link Love: The Crafty Crow

The Crafty Crow is filled with fun crafty activities! Some of the crafts are for younger kids, but if you look around you will see the site is FILLED with neat stuff to do.
My family is going to attempt to complete two or three projects from the site each week.
Starting with this: All About Me Boards

And then we are going to make these!

First post

I cleared out all the old posts as they just didn't seem to fit. I am trying hard to make this site extremely useful to all.
I will start by featuring this site, Morningside Center, that I just found...http://www.morningsidecenter.org/about.html
Great stuff for teaching character education.
Side note:Looking around the site made me miss Charlotte, and the Big City Life. Sigh.
